Can't believe it's already October!
Here's a quick update on what's going on in my life right now:
My boyfriend visited me last weekend (and brought a little taste of home with him). We had a great weekend together - one of the highlights was visiting the Coor's factory in Golden, CO (free beer). On Sunday night, we went to see a musical called the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Boulder's Dinner Theater (where they serve you dinner before the play). We loved the performance but the food was AWFUL (even though we ordered the safest-sounding item on the menu - mac & cheese and chicken fingers). Ever since he left, I've been feeling a little out of synch.
I've been feeling rather homesick lately, so I have been thriving on items and characters of familiarity. There is no place quite like home, that's for sure.
I downloaded the soundtrack to Where the Wild Things Are this morning and had a chance to sample some of the songs. I'm digging it.
My car is broken and will be in the shop for nearly a month! Apparently, the drive shaft (whatever that is) needs to be replaced, but the part is on backorder and won't even get shipped out until October 15th! Car troubles are the worst.
I'm excited to see the new issue of the Rooster (CU Boulder's college magazine). I'm going to be spotlighted in the "classmate" section (I get my own page!). I'll try to post the article when it comes out.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day. All Thursdays are these days :/

Pet Peeves
Everybody has 'em. Here's my list:
1) Chipped Nail-polish.
2) Bad grammar (this goes hand-in-hand with bad spelling). I hate to do it, but I judge people when they misspell easy words or mix up it's and its or your and you're. It just makes you look stupid. Sorry.
3) People that talk in class (especially if they're sitting behind you). Fortunately, this doesn't happen so much in my upper division classes.
4) Sorority girls that shop at American Apparel. American Apparel was cool two years ago. I guess you all just recently caught on and think it's cool to wear gold, glittery, spandex bralettes and matching leggings for your Miami Vice theme party or your double U-neck dress out to Pearl Street. YOU ALL LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME!
5) People that don't clean up after themselves at fast-food type restaurants. It's disrespectful to me (when I'm waiting patiently for you to finish eating so I can have your table) and to the employees. How hard is it to throw your shit away? There are some circumstances in which you really aren't quite sure whether you have to clean up after yourself or not. Here's a good rule of thumb: When in doubt, clean up after yourself.
6) Lady Caca . I don't get you. You're weird.
7) Bad neighbors/roommates. Your music is annoying and so are you.
8) People that borrow money from you and never pay you back. This also ties into the category, "free-loaders" and "people-that-ask-you-favors-all-the-time-but-would-never-return-the-favor".
9) Haters . I'm better than you, and you're jealous.

10) The Disney Channel. You used to be so cool. All of your original movies were absolute masterpieces and now they are less than lackluster with poorly developed characters and plots. I think shit hit the fan with the Proud Family.

Did anybody watch the VMA's last night?
Did anybody see what Lady Gaga (or Lady Caca as I like to call her) wore when she won the Moon-man for Best New Artist? In case you missed it, here it is:
Now that's a poker-face.
It seemed that every time Lady Caca stole the attention of the camera, she was donning a different outfit. Here is a picture of her wearing a bird's nest on her head:
